Originally from India, Uma Krishnaswami lived in the US (Maryland and New Mexico) for over 30 years before moving to British Columbia, Canada. Her most recent middle grade nonfiction book is Threads of Peace: How Mohandas Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. Changed the World (Caitlyn Dlouhy Books/Atheneum). Uma has written 25 books for children, including middle grade novels (The Grand Plan to Fix Everything and Step Up to the Plate, Maria Singh), picture books (Out of the Way! Out of the Way! and Two at the Top: A Shared Dream of Everest) and a chapter book (Book Uncle and Me). She is also on the faculty of the MFA program in Writing for Children and Young Adults at Vermont College of Fine Arts.
